– Eight months have exhausted the resources of the Earth a year from now we will live beyond the limit, beyond our means, exploiting the resources of the future. To say it is the Global Footprint Network , which counts the carbon footprint of humanity and measures how much nature we have, how much of it we use and who uses what. On August 20 is therefore the Earth Overshoot Day, the date of the year in which our consumption of natural resources exceeds the regenerative capacity of the planet

Resources of the Earth exhausted Humanity in ecological deficit

We are in debt – After this date we will maintain our ecological debt by picking resource stocks and accumulating carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Just like the banks draw the exits and entrances, the Global Footprint Network measures the supply and demand of natural resources and ecological services.

The organization estimates that in about eight months consume more renewable resources and capacity of CO2 sequestration than the planet can be made available for an entire year.

A date that is anticipated each year – Over the years the Earth Overshoot Day has gradually early in 1993, remembers the network, it was October 21, 2003 is was September 22, and given the current trend, one thing is certain: Earth Overshoot Day tends to arrive a few days earlier each year.
