To Rome comes Watly, the first computer that cleans the water, provides power and connectivity – Startupper Magazine

Watly, the first computer thermodynamic in the world that can purify the contaminated water and providing power and connectivity through solar energy, will be presented for the first time at Maker Faire Rome, the largest european event on innovation, held at the Fiera di Roma from 14 to 16 October 2016.

Watly, was born more than three years from the intuition of the founding and CEO, Marco A. Attisani, uses solar energy to purify water from any form of contamination, making it potable and also in providing electricity and internet connection: for the first time, these three functions are fundamental to the development of life are united in a single machine, able to bring these resources in places where are difficult to find. Watly can operate as an autonomous but two or more Watly placed in the network to create an energy net, a real infrastructure to bring economic and social development to hundreds of thousands of communities that live off-grid.

Watly, already covered by several patents and field-tested in Ghana, has received numerous international awards such as the Horizon 2020, the European Pioneer and the Gaetano Marzotto Prize (2015), has also entered the acceleration program of E. S. A. (European Space Agency) in Barcelona (2016), with a special project focused on the development of a program for the control of the automatic navigation of drones.

In Rome, Watly will be present with a very important part of the machine. In a space of over 300 square meters will be fitted to three modules with a length of 25 metres: two wings – that collect solar energy and make it work – and a central unit, where you will find the user interface, the true soul of Watly.
The user interface, which is equipped with a large interactive screen, will broadcast not only video documentaries and visual on Watly but, in a dedicated workstation, and will allow you to live an immersive experience thanks to virtual reality technology Oculus that let you interact with the machine. Thanks to the special bracelets equipped with RFID visitors can then, approaching to the regulator, to receive clean drinking water, reproducing the real operation of Watly. The fair will be presented also the prototype of the tank exclusive Watly. And then, gifts and gadgets for children and adults.

"We are very happy to finally be able to show the result of almost four years of work," says Marco A. Attisani. "In Rome we want to have a machine that aims to revolutionize the global scene and be a pioneer of a new paradigm for the industrial and social order based on the energy net".

The presentation at the Maker Faire is also an occasion to announce the near completion of the first Watly, expected by the end of 2016. In the final stages of construction, assembly and testing will take place in Bari at the headquarters of the industrial partner of Watly, Primiceri SpA, a global partner, able to design, build, install and provide after-sales service. When finished, Watly will remain as a permanent installation for demonstration purposes to institutions, companies and media in a dedicated space in the 15 new warehouses made available by Primiceri SpA.
