P9 Huawei, the Chinese house up the ridge, what we like and what we do not like – International Business Times Italy

Huawei P9 and P9 Plus were presented at an event with great fanfare in London. The Chinese house after Mate S, which in fact reiterated the company’s desire to position itself in the highest and noblest end of the market, has a top of the range, available in two variants, which aims to attack the same segment. That’s what we like and what we do not like the new device by Huawei.

WE LIKE

1) The dual camera

from a technical standpoint Huawei has done a good job, nothing to say. The Chinese house has focused heavily on multimedia sector which will consist of an 8 MP front camera and rear double CAM consists of two 12-megapixel sensors, a flavor of RGB and the other monochrome. And here comes into play one of the smartphone’s focus: the dual CAM was made using the know-how of Leica.

How does this dual sensor? The first, RGB, captures the colors, while the camera in black and white captures the details of the image. The two rear cameras work together to allow users to create images with details, depth and color improvement. The double CAM P9 strength? The low light. Huawei and Leica have stated that the innovative camera can capture 270% more light than the iPhone 6s and 90% more than the Samsung Galaxy S7.

we have got to try the smartphone but, at least on paper, Huawei has done a great job. He has certainly played a lot with marketing, and from this point of view nothing wrong, but the double LIVE promises to be one of the best solutions in the current smartphone market.

2) All specifications are true top

From a technical point of view range P9 has a HISILICON Kirin 955 processor that includes a processor Octa Core with this big-LITTLE configuration: 4 Cortex-A53 + 4 Cortex-A72 2.5 GHz. to support the Soc are 3/4 GB of RAM and 32/64 GB of expandable internal memory, depending on the variant P9 .

Huawei P9 , with 5.2-inch IPS LCD screen and 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, will be available in two configurations: 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of memory; 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory. Both variants can count on a 3,000 mAh battery battery. Huawei P9 Plus, which features a Full HD screen 5.5 inch compatible with the Press Touch technology is available in only one configuration with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory; The battery is 3400 mAh instead.

A very complete technical package that improves all the technical features of its predecessor. Very good also the battery capacity as well as the decision to focus more on “traditional resolutions”

WE DO NOT LIKE

1) Price

Huawei P9 with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage will cost 599 €; the version with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB, 649 euro. Huawei P9 Plus will have a piece of list of 749 Euros. cartel prices that link straight to the high-end market. But we know that the high end of the smartphone market is the exclusive preserve of Apple, considered a luxury brand. Propose an Android device with a starting price of not less than 599 euro therefore remains a gamble.

But the high price has to base a reason: buyers must perceive Huawei as a builder of high-end the way as its competitors. The Chinese house has invested so much in marketing, in research and development in the perception of the quality of its products it is definitely increased in the public. But the question we ask ourselves is this: how many will be ready to spend 599 or 749 euro for a Huawei?

The answer is (almost) always the same: wait a few weeks that the online price of P9 is lowered and then the smartphones by Huawei could become very attractive.

2)

Is it possible that a smartphone from 599 present the same model from the same interface of a little more than 100 euro? In fact, the P9 and P8 Lite have basically the same UI. The point, however, is not the quality of the interface, which is definitely also be improved from the point of view of the personality, but in differentiation. Huawei should work much harder in this respect: a user who spends 599 Euros for a smartphone very well claim by DU.

The Chinese house for its top of the range should to propose a feature software specific , thus differentiating the various market segments. Speaking of UI then come into play even to Android updates, another sore point for Huawei, as the release of the update, at least in the past, has been anything but timely.

Another element that made us turn up our nose is the presence in P9 Press the Plus Touch. Again the feature hardware is not discussed, however, the concerns arise from its real versatility.
