The iPhone 6 are the most durable product that Apple has – Tom’s Hardware

New iPhone well enough to withstand water drops, spills and ill-treatment of various types . At least this is what emerges from the tests conducted by SquareTrade , a company specializing in endurance tests that put through the wringer iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

In the tests SquareTrade engineers have assessed the key elements of the design, the build quality of the edges and the materials, size, weight, the ratio of friction, water resistance and the ability to come out unscathed from rubbing against surfaces such as plastic and wood . The objective is to evaluate the resistance of the products for daily use of the common user.

The next generation smartphone were kept under water for 10 seconds , without sustaining any damage immediately, and were left dropped six times from a height of 1.2 meters . According to the report the iPhone 6 has remedied a few dents and scratches , but no functional impairment is one of the best results obtained so far from SquareTrade in its drop tests.

It is not been so lucky 6 Plus: the screen and the back coating of aluminum held up, but the sixth fall the rear panel is blown away and 30 minutes later the speakers have stopped working .

Although this result unflattering SquareTrade concluded that on the whole the new iPhone are impressive, even if not indestructible , and that the iPhone 6 Plus is more durable than most of the smartphones with large screens. The final verdict is a medium risk of harm by a score of 4 and 5 (on a scale from 1 to 10), respectively, for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus – a lower value corresponds to a better result.

In both cases, the products are more resistant iPhone 5S – who had a score of 6-Galaxy and S5, which had ended the test with 6.5 points. To give another way of comparison, the performance of the iPhone 6 is also slightly better than the Motorola Moto X and HTC One.

A spokesman for SquareTrade concludes that “both the new iPhone are bigger and stronger than predecessors [...] the iPhone 6 has passed all our tests with flying colors, the iPhone 6 Plus has nevertheless done well, but it is bigger then collected fewer points for the size and for the less firm grip it offers. “
