In Italy the iPhone 6 at the highest prices in Europe

Protest Codacons against the decision of Apple, which sells iPhone 6 in Italian at higher prices compared to the rest of Europe. In our country, the base model of the new smartphone ranges from 729 to 949 euro, while for the iPhone Plus you will pay from 839 up to 1,059 euro. Lists more expensive than in Germany, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Finland and Ireland, where the base model starts at 699 euro, while the Plus costs from 799 to 999 euro. In France the base model starts at 709 euro.

A similar price differentiation had already taken place with the launch of the iPhone 5, and even then, analysts pointed the finger at precise marketing strategies of Apple, aimed at exploiting the propensity of Italian hi-tech compared to citizens of other nations. “Once again, the users of our country are penalized compared to other European citizens in terms of prices charged by Apple – said Codacons – and come to pay for the same product up to 60 € extra. The rates applied in Italy must be aligned to those in force in the rest of Europe; until this happens, we urge citizens not to buy the new iPhone, in order to push Apple to change its business strategy. ”

Like all manufacturers, including Apple, remember, has no obligation to apply the same prices in the European Union or the rest of the world, so much so that in the UK the iPhone 6 starts at 539 pounds, equivalent to 676 euro and get to 789 pounds (990 euro) for the Plus 128 GB, which in Italy costs 1059 euro. But a simple check on the various websites of Amazon, for example, shows that prices of all products also vary considerably from one country to another. If, therefore, the merit of the Codacons is wrong, specifically on the other hand is right: once again the price of the iPhone in Italy is the highest in Europe. This will not prevent Apple to sell huge amounts, because now the majority of purchases are combined with a mobile phone contract and the amount is then prorated.
