iPhone 6 and Plus, the test of the new Apple smartphone

From now on sale in Italy the latest version, available in two models. We tested them in preview, but # MeetiPhone6 continues: Join us with your questions and your requests

After seven years and over 500 million copies sold, iPhone changes. With the eighth generation, which arrives in stores today, Italian, Apple increases the size of the display, following a growing trend. And so the iPhone 6 splits: a normal version and a 4.7-inch 5.5-inch, which is called Plus. Them we have tried and we have chosen to engage readers, inviting those who had questions about the new Apple smartphone to send via Twitter (with # hasthtag MeetiPhone6) or here on LaStampa.it: In the coming days, with the use and practice will try to answer all the questions arrived.

What does he look? And the battery?

On the box there is not even an image of the device, only a white silhouette embossed on a white background. The iPhone 6 and the Plus have beveled edges, such as the very first model in 2007 (but the thickness was halved: only 6.9 mm for the iPhone 6). An elegant solution but it is not easy to grip, so the reader (Tex) asking if the Apple smartphone fits comfortably in the hand is better than one answer that is the lesser model, while with Plus it is hard. The dimensions are important (158x78x7,1 mm), the highest weight (172 grams versus 129): it is the price to pay for a screen in Full HD 5.5 inch and a battery that finally allows us to look with indifference on the taken at airports or bar, consider the 12 hours of surfing the web on the network 4 G. With the iPhone 6 instead no problem in half an hour you put aside the previous model, you just have to remember that the power button is not as high but on the right side.

What’s inside?

As usual, Apple has revised the processor, improved graphics chip, wifi and updated cellular connection to the most advanced standards. Inevitably, in a smartphone top of the range (also in price, from 729 to 1059 euro), but the surprise is the camera: always 8-megapixel sensor with a redesigned and redesigned software, the best resume for the details even if the light is poor. On the iPhone 6 Plus there is also an optical stabilizer, as in professional equipment, not to find themselves more blurred or shaky video. Photos and movies (and websites and games and the rest) are the most beautiful as well thanks to the screens, which have a natural color rendition; the definition is very good, although there are competitors with improved specifications. The iPhone 6 Plus is worth the 110 euro difference compared to the standard model? A Camillo answer that depends on the priority: if you can not give up on a big screen and a good battery life, the price difference is reasonable.

What changed for you?

Apple produces not only the hardware but also the software. And on the new iPhone is iOS8, the latest version of the operating system with tons of improvements and changes. Some can only be experienced on the latest models; the screen, for example, you can set the zoom mode, magnifying icons and text for better readability. And if the phone is too big, a double tap on the home button brings down the icons at the bottom, so it is again possible to reach them with a finger. Between the two iPhone 6 there are also small differences in the app: with notes and Mail, in the horizontal Plus shows the same layout of the iPad, confirming its hybrid between smartphone and tablet. The keyboards are enriched with side buttons with useful shortcuts and function keys; Even so, however, it is difficult to imagine that the larger model can replace an iPad.

What’s missing?

There is the barometer (to measure not only the distance but also the stairs or climbing ), there is the NFC technology, which together with the fingerprint sensor allows you to pay in stores enabled by touching the terminal with the iPhone. Only in the United States, though: in Italian trade agreements have not been announced for Apple Pay as you still can not use the function that allows you to automatically switch between calls via wifi and wired cellular network. That’s why the new smartphone of Cupertino is once again an investment in the future for those who buy it, like Apple, the iPhone that gets more than half of sales.

Printing with you wherever and whenever you want.
