It is TCL Communication, a multinational chinese electronic consumption, which in Europe sells smartphones under the brand Alcatel. BlackBerry will license the brand, in exchange for receiving the payment of royalties for each unit sold.

The partnership, which are not known, the economic terms, provides that TCL is concerned with the design, implementation, global deployment of the next devices and post-sales support, while BlackBerry will offer applications and services, including the suite of enterprise security.

After you abandoned the development of the operating system BlackBerry OS 10 and chose Android to try to increase its market share, the company has decided to focus resources exclusively on the smart part of the smartphone, which is the software with particular attention to the security features, the real strength of the series DTEK. It is not clear at the moment, the fate of BlackBerry Mercury, a smartphone with a QWERTY keyboard which should be announced in the first quarter of 2017.
