Milan – Toru Iwatani, the one and only creator of Pac Man , cut the ribbon at the inauguration of the fifth Games week in Milan this morning, under the eyes of a crowd of children, of adults who wanted to see their idol 80s and cosplayers. Last year, the Games Week – which is the most important Italian exhibition of video games and digital entertainment – recorded 100,000 visitors and even today it looks promising.
Toru Iwatani will also hold a conference (at 18, room Bolaffio Fieramilanocity, admission free but by appointment from the site) entitled How to create a good game, in which talk about his experience in the games industry and of the basic rules for create a good game. Former Japanese game designer has been invited to Milan by Games collection, which for three years by the Gamesweek Retro: retrogaming for me is heaven.
Also in this edition will be presented previews of upcoming releases of the greatest gaming houses of the moment. Here are the most attractive stocks , at least for me.
A game that has me was concerned regarding Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, by Activision because, although not the saga of COD one of my favorites, the trailers and gameplay beta struck me: they reveal a change in the saga in terms of gameplay and mechanics that are very reminiscent of Crysis (and, if you want to be picky, a little ‘the saga of Deus ex) and seem to make the gameplay more varied and rich.
Namco Bandai I was amazed not so much for Dark Souls 3, nor for Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 – two series that I played and enjoyed – as for Sword Art Online: Lost Song. The trailer is very attractive and appealing, not only for the system of fighting, that will be easy to organize and to control, but especially in the context multiplayer. Look so pleased to try this game , especially because I am a fan of the anime (but, in the end, from Bandai Namco look just a game Dragonball next gen with a combat system at least similar to that Series Budokai tenkaichi).
Electronic Arts instead brings us previews really juicy: Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, Need For Speed, and what I find most interesting, Star Wars Battlefront because, despite having loved the Need for Speed series and the first Mirror’s Edge, nothing can top the fun to invite a friend home to fight the greatest battles of Star Wars through different classes and different characters. From this title I expect big improvements in gameplay, unless they go to change too the original mechanical. This is yet to be verified.
Ubisoft brings Tom Clancy’s: The Division, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, Trackmania Turbo, The Crew Wild Run and what I found most original and interesting: For Honor , offering a multiplayer PvP and PvE I also think online, which will result in a hack and slash with mechanical original, in which the player can play as one of three factions: the Knights, Vikings and Samurai. From the trailers and gameplay I saw the title certainly bodes well, especially for the unique mechanics of combat and graphics entirely satisfactory.
Nintendo instead presented previews that not I found it very interesting, apart from The Legend Of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes, Xenoblade Chronicles X and Steamworld Heist. And that’s exactly what I want to focus on the latter because, after watching some trailers I immediately loved the design and the gameplay in general, which can be summarized in a 2D turn-based strategy that seems to promise a certain challenge.
Koch Media features some of the most anticipated premieres: Just Cause 3, Sebastien Loeb Rally Ages (which frankly I care little), Homefront: The Revolution that I waited a bit ‘and Fallout 4 which all waited long. This title promises truly vast and as possibilities, both for game duration and size of the map: it seems that, even after hundreds of hours, you can even find items and novelties. It seems quite difficult, but I continue to hope for it.
PlayStation takes us a preview of the VR and many exclusive Sony Playstation: Horizon: Zero Dawn, Uncharted 4: End of a Thief , Assetto Corsa, Shadow Of The Beast and -the most anticipated for me- Street Fighter V: after I enjoyed almost all the previous chapters, I can not wait to get to know the new characters, to find out how they have used the Unreal engine 4 and if they have changed a little bit in the gameplay , adding functions.
XBox defends well still presenting Rise Of The Tomb Rider , Cuphead, Halo 5: Guardians and Gigantic, the most interesting. The latter looks like a MOBA, where the player will be joined by a giant guardian: a mechanical in a MOBA, where the strategy is practically everything fits perfectly. I hope to try to see the idea in action.
I have spoken only of games, but there are many events side that are on gamesweek.it .
