The Big Hack, a project on safety in the workplace wins Hackathon Maker Faire Rome – The Messenger

One hundred and sixty participants, 18 projects, 30 hours of work: these are the figures of The Big Hack, the marathon programming that gave ideally off the Maker Faire organized by Asset Room – Special Agency of the Chamber of Commerce of Rome – with the collaboration of Codemotion – one of the largest technical conference for software developers in Europe.

The Big Hack was made with the aim of developing smart solutions to everyday problems through the use and implementation of open data and technology wearable and was promoted by Regione Lazio, Agid, Agency for Mobility Roma Capitale, Eni, Trenitalia has participated with the brand Arrows, and sponsored by IBM.

Each promoter who attended the competition has had the opportunity to reward a project submitted for its challenge, while the special award Maker Faire, what are elements that the overall winner of the competition, was awarded to the project Safe Back – Back to safe , in the race for the challenge Work safety promoted by Eni.

The project was presented by the children Snapback – a startup that offers an innovative user experience on mobile – that starting from a study of accidents at work, have offered a solution which would use proximity sensors and wearable technology to alert workers in dangerous situations, providing a wide range of assistance to both operators and supervisors. The project will be presented during the Maker Faire 2015, departing on October 16.

OTHER AWARDS

 For every challenge proposed by the promoters there was a winner:

The Open Data Award – Lazio (3000 € in Amazon vouchers to winning team for the realization of the app awarded ) went to the project City Roots , project themed green and organic. To the cry of “Do it where you want, but stop it!” City Roots promotes the green economy through an integrated app to a virtual community facilitates collaboration between citizens and public administration with the creation and exchange of Open date.

The Open Data Award – Agid (3000 € in Amazon vouchers to the winning team) went instead to Eat-it , a project dedicated to the protection and enhancement of products 100% Made in Italy thanks to the use of open data AGID and a database of companies and products.

The Mobility Award – Mobility Agency of Rome Capital (2500 € in good Amazon to the winning team and 5 free subscriptions in Car Sharing + 100 Euros each consumer car-sharing) has been awarded to CPT Card (Citizen Pilgrim Tourist) card integrated services destined to tourists and citizens to have all the details of cultural interest and logistics.

The Mobility Award – Frecciarossa ( € 2,500 in Amazon vouchers and 1,500 € in good Frecciarossa) went to the project scooting that stood out for its attention to the customer in planning every aspect of the trip and for the idea of ​​making an APP the ideal travel companion at your smartphone.

The Workplace Safety Award – Eni (5-day trip to MIT in Boston, USA) has been awarded to young team presented the project dark a ‘intuitive graphical interface through which you can check that all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is worn.

The large turnout of passionate professionals, the work of the promoters, organizers and mentors meant that the result of the marathon was very impressive in terms of quality of solutions and the level of the projects presented, once again confirming the trend that sees the Hackathon the best tool to find and propotipare fast creative solutions to the problems of society and business.

The event received strong interest from all parts of the world of innovation and promoting companies: participants – developers, designers, startupper, makers , students – have been joined by technical mentors and partners of the event, which provided technologies, devices and services for the duration of the marathon.
