After screenshots and a video showing the appearance and operation of the new Start menu included in the Technical Preview Windows 9 , the German site WinFuture has published two other videos, one of which related to the virtual desktops . The Redmond company has finally introduced a feature known for years to Linux users and also in OS X (Spaces), starting with version 10.5 (Leopard) 2007 The second video shows how to remove the live tile from the Start menu .

Microsoft operating systems (from Windows 3.0 and later) allow you to open multiple applications (and their windows) to take advantage of the multitasking . The switch from one window to another is done with the key combination Alt + Tab or by gesture on Windows 8.1. I virtual desktops are an evolution of traditional multitasking, since you can add new desktop, within which multiple applications are running. In the taskbar Windows 9 is an icon with two overlapping rectangles that activate the new feature.

As you can see in the following video on the Technical Preview, which should be released later this month, at the bottom of the screen displays the “ Add to Desktop “. Each time you click the + button is added to a virtual desktop. To close them, simply click the red X in the upper right corner of each thumbnail. It is not known at the time, if Microsoft will impose an upper limit to their number.

The second video shows instead the “transformation” of the new Start menu in a single column menu. Selecting the “Unpin from Start” you can delete all of the live tile app Modern. Unlike Windows 7, links to Control Panel, Computer, Default Programs, Documents, Pictures, etc.. are inserted in the left column.
