Exceeded one billion websites in the world. The milestone was announced today by ‘Internet Live Stats’. The first website in history was launched in 1991 while share of 1 million sites has been exceeded in 1997.
The boom was recorded in 2012 when the number of websites has increased from 346 million in 2011 to 697 mln. To date over 1.061 billion .
The first website in history was launched August 6, 1991 by Briton Tim Berners-Lee , the founder of the ‘World Wide Web’. Yahoo’s site was launched in 1994, in 1995 Amazon, Google in 1998, in 2001, Wikipedia, Youtube in 2005.
