Snapchat is bought emoji of Bitstrips – The Republic

Rome – Snapchat is pressing Facebook. And it does so by buying more than $ 100 million – as The Wall Street Journal – the Bitstrips company, maker of an app that creates a particular kind of emoji. Bitmoji, the name of the app, allows users to create virtual avatars and insert them in your smartphone’s keyboard, to use in conversations like all other emoticons. Just a few weeks ago Facebook launched Reactions, the emoji that express different feelings from simply ‘like’. He has also purchased the app Masquerade, which is used to customize the selfie.

Bitmoji, launched in October 2014, immediately won the young and has never lost share, aided by the use of celebrity Seth Rogen and Lena Dunham . By purchasing it, Snapchat has more weapon to compete on the grounds of filters, adhesives and other gadgets that make it lively chats.

Having become famous for his ‘messages disposable’, Snapchat counts 100 million active users. It recently won 175 million of new funding from the fund Fidelity Investments, which brought the app’s value to 16 billion dollars. In 2013, Facebook tried to buy Snapchat for three billion dollars, but one of its creators, the then 23 year old Evan Spiegel , refused.
