Spotify towards the acquisition of SoundCloud – The Sun 24 Hours

Spotify is in advanced stage of negotiation for the acquisition of SoundCloud, according to reports gathered by the Financial Times and not yet confirmed directly by the two companies.
Spotify is one of the most popular services for streaming audio, with a database of several million tracks and allows access in free mode (with revenues obtained through the commercials between music and the other) in either a paid Premium, with over 30 million paying users. Recently the company, which has headquarters in Sweden, has announced its entrance on the japanese market, where streaming music is not yet fully taken off, preferring the japanese users to use in large part to the physical media (the Cd Audio in the first place).

Spotify has paid out $ 5 billion in the rights of the author

SoundCloud is a company with headquarters in Berlin, that has created a platform that allows anyone to publish any audio track, with limitations in the "free" version with regard to the overall length of tracks for each account. In addition to being used by a large number of amateur artists, SoundCloud is also used by professionals and artists of the tour "indie", and on the platform, publish some or all of their work. In Italy, for example, is used by Jovanotti to make public the remix and acoustic versions of their songs.

The database of SoundCloud, contains about 125 million audio tracks and has a population of about 175 million active users. The acquisition would enable the integration in the Spotify catalog of the music "musically significant" in SoundCloud.
