Renewable, United States powered 100% clean energy by … – TGCOM

– the whole territory of the United States will be powered exclusively from renewable sources by 2050. This was revealed by a study of Stanford University, who has analyzed the energy situation of each of the 50 states in stars and stripes. Based on the data collected, the researchers then created a plan specifically for the turning “green”, so that it is economically sustainable and based on the use of existing technologies. The goal: eliminate emissions of greenhouse gases from fossil fuels.

Renewable, United States powered 100% clean energy by 2050

The analysis of the parameters – The experts of the The Solution Project – the name of the study – have examined the current consumption and the energy mix of each country and the specific characteristics of the regions, from Maine to California. To do this have been taken into consideration various parameters, starting from sun exposure and the number of roofs facing south and not shaded and can accommodate solar panels. Data collection has since concentrated on wind maps to determine where offshore wind turbines were an option. As for other energy sources, the researchers determined that geothermal is feasible at an affordable cost in only 13 states and that there is no need of new dams for hydropower, but only to make more efficient those already built.

The roadmap interactive – The processing of the data collected has finally allowed the creation of an interactive map of the US that offers a custom profile for each nation, the energy mix perfect for new jobs work, the savings of health care costs to those in the bill, since the return on investments to the avoidable deaths from air pollution.

The advantages of turning “green” environment, health , work – On the whole, experts point out, the conversion to 100% renewables would save 63 thousand lives a year, would create tens or hundreds of new jobs in every state and would require no more than 0.5% of territory to be used in photovoltaic panels or wind turbines. The study also states that this solution “would eliminate emissions of greenhouse gases from fossil fuels, which otherwise would cost the world 3.3 trillion dollars a year by 2050″.
