It is approaching more and more launch of augmented reality glasses of competitors to Sony Google Glass, the company announced that a developer edition of its Sony SmartEyeglass will be in the next few days on sale. The cost is less than Google Glass, by about half, but are not nearly as elegant glasses of Google.
SmartEyeglass Developer Edition SED-E1 is the first series of intelligent glasses from Sony that debuted officially on the market, although targeted at developers. Will be available from March in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and Japan at the price of $ 840, 520 pounds, 670 € or JPY 100,000, and pre-orders are open now in the UK and Germany. They will also be selling to business customers in France, Italy , Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands and Sweden.
The solution of Sony’s intelligent glasses is like a pair of sunglasses traditional plus a small transparent display above the left lens, which allows you to view information such as notifications of emails, calls and text messages in front of the eyes. The glasses will mate with the phone and are able to display information from compatible applications installed on your smartphone. SED-E1 displays information only in the color green and the battery lasts about two and a half hours on a single charge.
As we see in the video below, the glasses from Sony are aesthetically ugly , and it is assumed that they are also uncomfortable to wear, considered to be connected by a wire to a remote control by which they impart manual commands. The remote control at least also has a microphone for voice commands. Given the restrictions, we understand very well why the glasses from Sony cost half of what they cost the Google Glass.
Glass was one of the first devices of wearable technology presented publicly, but earlier this year Google has stopped selling them. A couple of Glass coast $ 1500 , and are a product only available in limited numbers and recommended at the time for business and for developers. Still do not know when the Google Glass will be available to the mass public.
The Google Glass are equipped with a built-in HD camera, whereas in SmartEyeglass Developer Edition SED-E1 Sony is a camera 3 megapixel – it is the camera of Glass why the launch was postponed, has raised controversy because of privacy issues.
In terms of design, is Google Glass much thinner and lighter than the solution of Sony, which are also equipped with several sensors: an accelerometer, a gyroscope, electronic compass, the ambient light sensor and the camera. Everything comes with a cable for connection to an external battery with a touch sensor and microphone.
And ‘likely that Sony will showcase its SmartEyeglass Developer Edition SED-E1 to the next Mobile World Congress program in the first week of March in Barcelona.
Watch the video below and tell us what you think of these glasses: never would go around with these tanned wearing?
