After the agreement IBM-Apple for enterpise comes Google’s move. With the market saturated comsumer more than ever (at least in the West) was to be expected a blow acceleration towards business users. No surprise then that much about the news of the birth of Android for work, basically a family of applications to make the install on your Android smartphone or tablet that mounts the programs used in the company. For now, in fact we know very little.

How it works

Written by Rajen Sheth, head of product management for Android and Chrome for Work seems a version of Android for companies who want to support mobile devices a part of their applications. Google claims to have improved the system of encryption enabled by default, enhanced security features SELinux and multi-user support in Android 5.0 Lollipop to create professional profiles dedicated able to isolate and protect data. These improvements would serve the IT department to make available professional app next to their personal app, with the certainty assured that their personal information will remain safe. “People will be able to use their own personal app knowing that the employer will manage only the data related to the app to work and will not delete or even see their personal content.” This is for users with Android 5.0. For Ice Cream Sandwich devices and Kitkat or born without a job profiles Google has chosen to create an app called Android for Work. Again stated goal is to start a service secure email, calendar, contacts, documents, web browsing and access to professional app approved, can be fully managed by the IT department. Another initiative is to create an environment specifically for developers called Google Play for Work to allow enterprises to deploy and manage applications for all users that use Android for Work. Finally, it would be ready a suite of business applications to manage email, contacts and calendar that supports Exchange and Notes and provides features to edit documents, spreadsheets and presentations.
