New emoji to please everyone: this is the only novelty of iOS 8.3 beta 2 that has attracted users.

With this update Apple introduces a number of variants for the popular “emoticons”: in particular, for each expression now available five different shades to will choose the color of their skin.

The possibility that there were limited so far, with one color of skin available for emoji, had raised some protest particularly among American users: someone had even accused the Cupertino company of discrimination, because it proposed only faces “white”.

So Apple ran for cover, and the possibility to choose between different skin colors is also available in the latest beta of Mac OS X.

To avoid extending the proportion selection screen of emoji, default smilies are presented with skin of an intense yellow color; the yellow has long been used as a neutral color in these applications. Keeping your finger pressed sull’emoji chosen appear alternatives.

The update not only solves the problem of poor “racial diversity” (according to the definition used by Apple itself) but also introduces a whole new set of emoji Gay Friendly : next to the image of the couple man / woman for some time available now also appear icons representing couples of the same sex.

Finally, Apple hath granted a moment of self-centeredness: emoji the clock has been replaced with a new one, which is an iWatch.
