As we reported a few hours ago, Sony has made available for download from the firmware 4.50 PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 4 Pro Beta version. The changes introduced by the update have been spread from the Sony the same, but there seems to be an additional, and quite interesting feature that is not mentioned in the official notes.
As noted by some users on NeoGaf, among the novelties introduced have been detected “Boost designed for increase the frame-rate of the games on the PlayStation 4 Pro. It would seem that the improvement is limited to only the games released before the console powered with Sony were to be marketed, and therefore have not received -in most cases – an update to support PS4 Pro. As evidenced directly from the UI of the console, the Boost Mode allows you to “to improve the gameplay, and get the frame rate higher for games out before the introduction of the PS4 Pro (my cuh-7000 series)“. It is recommended that “disable in case of any anomalies in the gameplay“.
In the end of the article, you can also find a first video comparison: the YouTube user Noel Underson, compared The Evil Within (title free of patch support PS4 Pro) on the PS4 and Standard on the PS4 Pro in the Boost. It is not possible to see if the frame-rate effect on the 60fps, but it is clear an improvement in performance on the Pro.
Definitely it is an interesting and welcome addition for owners of PlayStation 4 Pro, that will enjoy better performance with games that do not officially support the console.
