Instagram like YouTube: the number of views made public – The Republic

HOW Facebook and YouTube, Instagram also reveal the number of views of videos published on its platform. A move that does not change the usage habits of normal users, but which aims to encourage creative and advertisers deliver more and more. The number of views makes it possible to have a meter for knowing the true scope of a video, maybe even to be able to make comparisons to other sharing platforms like YouTube or Twitter’s Vine.

The news, announced on the company blog, will begin to be available in the coming weeks. Users can see how many and which users viewed your shared videos. Push video on two other applications launched by Instagram in recent months: Hyperlapse, for making movies in “time lapse” in high quality on the move, and Boomerang, to create short clips with images that are repeated in a loop.

Born to sharing photos – and from 2012 to Mark Zuckerberg – the social network property is open to video two years ago and he’s going to ride full a growing trend. Instagram, which has 400 million monthly active users, of which more than three-quarters outside the US, the time spent in front of the clip has risen 40% over the past six months.
