Millions of people in Europe, the US and Canada were apprehensive for a few hours on the day of Christmas Eve. The reason? No warning or terrorism-related incidents to the fireworks. The panic was generated by the sudden failure of WhatsApp. The instant messaging service, created in 2009 and now owned by Facebook, it is probably locked to an overcrowded lines. Many, in fact, wanted to send a greeting with the popular application servers and so on, from as early as 17 hours Italian, it began to give problems.
Meanwhile, on other social networks, in addition to numerous complaints about poor service, the story gave the irony of those who, a few hours after the stroke of midnight, they had to come up with alternative methods to deliver his New Year’s greetings. And so, on Twitter, it has quickly become a global trend hashtag #WhatsAppDown. The main problem was that the app could not connect to the Internet, even though smartphones used were connected to Wi-Fi networks.
Hardships, therefore, have not been few and to calm the minds of millions of users has been launched by one of the spokespersons of the company that runs the service a statement with which the work team of WhatsApp has publicly apologized for the ‘ inconvenience. But all’s well that ends well: after several attempts to reset the server, the technicians were able to solve the problems and all the good wishes were sent regularly.
