After a discreet flourishing period is a time of crisis for the tablet market which provides a drop in sales of up to 3.5% next year.
The warning comes from a study conducted by TrendForce, that would have quantified a net loss in sales of the tablet in the year 2015, according to which the latter should not exceed 185.6 million units, either because of a flashback to the notebook and to the increase of competition caused by phablet and Chromebook.
The Tablet market, beaming after a 2013 that was + 52%, we have moved to a measly +7 % in 2014, leaving disappointed that the builders. for their part, have the “guilt” of having proposed tablet hardly innovative and productive. While the tablet was created to replace the notebook, you have to admit that certainly has not made much progress in the past, indeed, precisely the latter have reinvented proposing advanced solutions such as convertible or exceptional ultrabook. Those who had pointed to the tablet to replace laptops, are due to retrace their steps. Not to mention the life cycle of a tablet that is around 4 years against the smartphone that is definitely renewed more often (12-24 months).
Even Apple, iPad, leader market, has suffered this decline and along with the other manufacturers will surely find countermeasures to make up for this loss. We’ll see if the different companies will be able to develop innovative tablet that still manage to bring the enthusiasm of the early days.
